Pop-up cards are small paper constructions, so handling the folds and layers with care helps you enjoy the design. This guide covers general handling; the product gallery shows the particular structure of each card.
Before opening
- Place the card on a clean, dry surface and look for its outer panels and base.
- Open slowly along the existing folds. Do not pull on thin flowers, lettering, wheels, or other narrow cutouts.
- Let the design settle into the position shown for that product. Stop if a panel resists rather than forcing it flat.
Different designs have different structures
Layered cakes and centerpieces
These designs use multiple paper layers around a cake or centerpiece. Support the card base when moving it and keep your fingers away from the narrow cut-paper details.
Fold-out scenes
The Woodland Cottage card has a cottage backdrop, fold-out garden sides, and a green paper base. The gallery includes an open view, a folded view, and a close-up of the paper layers. Its side panels do not behave like the cover of every other card.

Vehicles and other detailed scenes
For designs such as the Birthday Train, hold the supporting base instead of the delicate vehicle, banner, or wheels.
Displaying and storing paper cards
Choose a stable, dry place for display. Keep the card away from splashes and avoid stacking heavy objects on its raised details. If you want to close a design again, follow its existing folds slowly; do not add a new crease to make it fit.
Confirm design-specific assembly, dimensions, writing areas, and included items before ordering if these affect your plans. We cannot infer those details from another similar-looking card.
